Official: Inter sign Carlos Augusto

August 17, 2023

After 1.5 years, Inter has parted ways with Robin Gosens, replacing him with a younger Carlos Augusto. Despite still recovering from an injury, Gosens arrived with a lot of fanfare but never lived up to the hype. First, he could not unseat Ivan Perisic, who was having a fantastic season. Once Perisic left, Federico Dimarco took over and never looked back. We wish Gosens great success at Union Berlin (unless if/when they are grouped with Inter in the Champions League).

Carlos Augusto comes to Inter on an initial loan, with an option and conditional obligation to buy, after three seasons at Monza. His first season in Serie A (third season in Italy) was seen as a success, with six goals and five assists in 25 matches for the biancorossi. Like Dimarco, he is a natural lefty who can also play center back and is known for his crossing. As Inzaghi likes to rotate his wingbacks, expect Augusto to get plenty of playing time, often as a substitute around the 60th minute but also as a starter when Inter starts having two games per week.

Five years younger than Gosens, Augusto is both a player who can contribute now and continue developing for the future.
