‘I HAVE MADE MY DECISION’ – REAL MADRID STAR SPEAKS OUT ON FUTURE
A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week provided a fresh insight into his future.
The player in question? Nacho.
The subject of stopper Nacho’s future has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital for some time now.
As much comes ahead of the expiration of his contract terms in the summer.
Until recently, the widespread understanding was that Nacho was set to move on, having come to the decision not to put pen to paper on a fresh one-year renewal offer on the part of the Bernabéu brass.
The last week, however, has seen murmurs spread in the media, pointing towards the 34-year-old giving fresh consideration to staying put.
Speaking in an interview with Onda Cero on Monday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his plans beyond the summer was put to Nacho once more.
The Spanish international, who was yesterday called up for the upcoming European Championships, however, was unsurprisingly keen to keep his cards close to his chest.
Adamant that full focus in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad should be directed towards the Champions League final at present, Nacho did, though, admit that his decision has long been made:
“I’m not going to say anything because I think it’s not the day. Out of respect for the club and my teammates, I think it’s not the day to say that I’m staying or that I’m going to leave. The only one who knows is me and the only thing that I’m thinking about is the final. I’ve decided.
“I am a person who makes decisions calmly. I need that tranquility, I need to finish the season, and then I’ll talk (…) Nothing that happens in the Champions League or the European Championships is going to change my decision.”
