Bayern Munich’s Christoph Freund talks shattered dreams, depth at striker

Like many fans of the club, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund lamented the broken dreams that came along with being eliminated from the Champions League by Inter Milan.

“It was our big dream, and it’s shattered. That’s part of football. The circumstances weren’t all that easy. We discussed efficiency and the little details that made the difference,” said Freund. “I don’t think the team will let itself be down. There are two aspects: the performance – which has been very decent in recent weeks – and what came out of it: We didn’t achieve that. Nevertheless, the team is on the right track. We have a big goal for the next few weeks: to win back the Bundesliga title.”

Freund was also recently asked about whether or not the club made a mistake by not adding another striker to the roster. The sporting director did not think it was an issue.
