UEFA quietly confirm dates for Celtic’s Champions League Playoff

UEFA have quietly confirmed Celtic’s dates for their Champions League Playoff. The Scottish Champions were drawn to face emtge winners of FC Kairat Almaty (KAZ) vs ŠK Slovan Bratislava.

Brendan Rodgers side will host the first leg after being drawn out of the hat first. Now, the UEFA website reveals that Celtic will play on Wednesday 20th August with an 8pm kickoff with the away leg the following week, on Tuesday 26th August.

Celtic will travel to Ibrox on Sunday 31st August to face Rangers in the first Glasgow Derby of the season and will be hoping to have secured their place in Europe’s premier competition by then.

Celtic faced Bratislava last season on MD1 of the UCL, with Celtic winning 5-0 after an emphatic display from the attackers that night. Brendan has stated that his squad needs to be strengthened in order to progress in Europe. The manager will hope that his side can add a number of attackers in the coming weeks ahead of the playoff.
