West Ham and Brentford among admirers of Bundesliga top scorer Serhou Guirassy

October 12, 2023

West Ham United and Brentford are among four Premier League teams to have shown interest in Stuttgart goal machine Serhou Guirassy, 90min understands.

The 27-year-old has scored a record-breaking 13 goals in just seven Bundesliga games this season, including hat-tricks against Mainz and Wolfsburg. He has also netted braces against Bochum, Freiburg and Darmstadt – goals that have fired Stuttgart to second in the table behind early pacesetters Bayer Leverkusen.

Guirassy only joined Stuttgart on a permanent basis in the summer, penning a three-year contract after netting 11 Bundesliga goals during 2022/23 following a loan move from Rennes, but scouts have understandably been drawn to his remarkable performances.

The Guinea international’s exploits have shattered records previously held by Robert Lewandowski and his goalscoring form has eclipsed the achievements of Harry Kane, who has netted eight goals in his first seven games for Bayern Munich.

90min understands that West Ham and Brentford have sent scouts to watch Guirassy in action, with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth also taking in his recent performances as they piece together their plans for the January transfer window.

Guirassy is also attracting the interest of clubs in the Saudi Pro League, who flexed their financial muscle in the summer to attract the likes of Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez and Franck Kessie to the Middle East.

Stuttgart’s position on a potential January sale is unclear, but logic would suggest they will want to keep their prized asset at the club, particularly as his goals could secure a route back into European competition next year.

The former FC Koln forward started his career at Laval, before going on to have spells at Auxerre, Amiens and Rennes among others.
