Liverpool and Aston Villa Beware: PSG Has Lead for This Sporting Lisbon Star
Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos could be on the verge of beating several Premier League powerhouse clubs to land Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
Record reported on Thursday that the Portuguese club already has an official proposal from PSG that Jorge Mendes presented. According to the information from the outlet, the offer is €60 million, which corresponds to the value of the release clause.
Along with PSG, several English clubs like Aston Villa, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the Uruguay international.
Furthermore, A recent report revealed that Ugarte wants to exit Sporting this summer transfer window. Ugarte has a contract until 2026, so Sporting isn’t letting him leave without acquiring an amount that justifies a sale.
As a result, the Portuguese side wants any interested club to pay €60 million, which is the sum on his release clause. The 22-year-old has appeared in 47 matches this 2022-23 season for Sporting, where he’s registered one assist.
Ugarte plays as a defensive midfielder which PSG needs since they failed to replace Thiago Motta when he left the capital club in 2018. Campos might revamp the position as players like Carlos Soler and Renato Sanches could exit Paris after one season.
