Zaccagni and Anderson goals keep Lazio in top four hunt

January 18, 2023

Lazio won 2-0 at Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday, thanks to a penalty from Mattia Zaccagni in the first half and a late Felipe Anderson strike.

Lazio now sits fifth in the table with 34 points, three behind Inter Milan and three ahead of Atalanta and Roma, both of whom play later on Sunday.

Just before halftime, Zaccagni converted a penalty kick after Jeremy Toljan handled the ball in the penalty area.

Anderson made it 2-0 late in the second half when he stole the ball from Sassuolo defender Ruan Tressoldi, dribbled past goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo, and side-footed the ball into an open net.

Sassuolo are 16th in the standings, having lost their last four league matches.
