Xavi Simons rejects Bayern Munich to remain at RB Leipzig

July 27, 2024

Xavi Simons has decided to remain at RB Leipzig for another season. After a phenomenal first season in the Bundesliga, Simons had attracted the interest from a number of top European clubs. On the list of sides looking to secure the services of the Dutchman were Bayern Munich.

However, despite leading the race to sign the 21-year-old earlier in the transfer window, it appears that they have ultimately lost out to Die Roten Bullen. It is understood that, unless anything unexpected happens, a deal for Simons to remain in Leipzig will be completed soon.

Simons is due to return from vacation next week, which is when it is expected that the deal will be completed. The Dutch international has already stated that he has no desire to play for Paris Saint-Germain and could leave on a permanent deal next summer.

As for Bayern, a move for Simons collapsing has ensured that they will go all out in order to lure Stade Rennes winger Désiré Doué to Bavaria. Regardless, a deal to sign the Frenchman is not a formality, with PSG looking to compete with the record champions for his signature.
