Xavi Hernandez wants Barcelona star to be sold this summer as part of plans for “revolution”
Barcelona’s primary goal for the coming weeks and months is to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, which would allow them to sign players this summer without any financial restrictions. In order for this to happen, a significant amount of money needs to be raised, so sales will be absolutely essential.
According to Sport, one player that Xavi Hernandez and Deco have agreed upon being sold is Robert Lewandowski. The 35-year-old is one of the highest earners at Barcelona, and with his wages set to increase further for next season, they hope to move him on during the summer transfer window.
Next week, Deco will hold talks with Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski’s agent, as they aim to come to a solution ahead of the summer. Joan Laporta will also be present, and it’s worth noting that he and Zahavi are reportedly on fairly poor terms at the moment because Hansi Flick was snubbed as Barcelona’s manager for next season.
Xavi believes that Lewandowski will not get any better, so it would be sensible to cash in now, especially as he is planning a “revolution” for Barcelona’s forward line. This is likely to include a move for Nico Williams, who’s been heavily linked in recent weeks.
