West Ham United wait for final Denis Zakaria price tag as negotiations continue – Fabrizio Romano
West Ham United are one of three teams interested in signing Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria this summer and are currently waiting on a final asking price, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Daily Mail reported on 29 June that Zakaria was one of four players that the Hammers had already approached in an attempt to replace the exit-bound Declan Rice this summer.
After looking likely to have missed out on prime target Joao Palhinha, West Ham have turned their attention to the 26-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, with negotiations ongoing.
Taking to Twitter on Friday morning (30 June), Romano wrote: “Negotiations will continue for Denis Zakaria, who’s expected to leave Juve this summer.
“West Ham are interested since the end of May, he’s one of the targets — there are two more clubs in the race, waiting for the final asking price.”
What is most notable about Zakaria, and the majority of the Hammers’ transfer targets this summer, is the Premier League experience they already possess.
Despite splashing the cash last summer, over £150million, it was mainly spent on players who had never played in the English top flight before. This lack of exposure was clear for all to see, with the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca taking plenty of time to adapt.
However, the likes of Zakaria, as well as other tipped targets Tyler Adams and James Ward-Prowse is that they have all proven themselves at the top level.
With Juventus keen on getting the Swiss midfielder off the books this summer and West Ham United looking for replacements for the exit-bound Declan Rice, this looks like a match made in heaven.
Zakaria never quite managed to click during his time at Chelsea, but a move to the Londo Stadium could offer him a fresh opportunity to hack the Premier League.
