West Ham United ready to spend as agent talks opened for £25m Alex Scott transfer from Bristol City

June 29, 2023

West Ham appear ready to spend the money Arsenal will be paying them for Declan Rice to bring in reinforcements of their own.

According to the Times [29 June], the Gunners are confident of a deal being finalised in the next 48 hours after agreeing on a £105million fee.

That will be a record for a British player and the biggest sum the Hammers have got in their history for the sale of a first-team asset.

It only makes sense that they look to spend the money on different players and build a balanced squad that can finish in the top 10.

Evening Standard reported on 27 June that West Ham had opened initial talks with the representatives of Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

David Moyes is understood to be keen on signing British players this summer and Scott fits the bill for the Hammers.

Bristol boss Nigel Pearson may want to keep hold of the 19-year-old but the lure of the Premier League as well as European football may be too good to turn down.

The Express reported that it will take a £25million fee in order to get the talented midfielder to leave Bristol this summer.

Scott, who has been likened to Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish, already has a number of clubs in the Premier League keen on signing him.

It remains to be seen if acting early can get West Ham to sign Scott ahead of the other sides.
