West Ham director Tim Steidten lifts lid on what he thinks about Kalvin Phillips signing from Man City

February 7, 2024

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten has lifted the lid on what he thinks about the signing of Kalvin Phillips from Man City.

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips joined West Ham on loan from Man City in the January window.

It was seen as a good move for all parties – West Ham, Manchester City, the player and England.

It came after a torrid 18 months at Man City where he has barely kicked a ball under Pep Guardiola.

And it’s fair to say it has showed in his two appearances for the Hammers thus far.

Phillips has endured a difficult start since leaving Man City for east London, gifting Bournemouth a goal just two minutes into his West Ham debut.

He struggled in the game and was then substituted by David Moyes in the second half – offering an apologetic gesture to West Ham fans as he left the field.
