Watford keen on getting Caleb Wiley on loan from Chelsea for another season

After signing with Chelsea last summer, young left back Caleb Wiley split his season between loan spells at RC Strasbourg and at Watford. The former did not go so well. The latter, did — eventually.
In fact, it went well enough that Watford are keen to keep him a bit longer, and are reportedly hoping to re-sign him on loan from Chelsea for all of next season as well.
Wiley’s time at our sister club was marred by injuries, first a knee problem that kept him for two months, then a separated shoulder that kept him out for three more. He managed just six appearances amidst all that.
The 20-year-old was still recovering from the shoulder problem when he joined Watford in the winter transfer window, and he didn’t make his debut until March. But he would go on to start the last eight games of the season, collecting an assist, showing his abilities, and evidently impressing enough to have them want him back.
Wiley helped Watford finish 14th in the Championship, and it would seem only fair to have him go there for a full season to keep building on his good start there in the last couple months.
