Vladimir Coufal lifts lid on what Declan Rice did in West Ham changing room on return and makes weird comment about his Arsenal move
Vladimir Coufal has lifted the lid on what Declan Rice did in the West Ham changing room on his return and makes a weird comment about his Arsenal move.
There was no lack of irony when Declan Rice returned to West Ham for the first time since his £105m move to Arsenal during the summer.
The midfielder left West Ham for Arsenal in search of more silverware. But his old club ensured the Carabao Cup is one trophy he won’t be winning this season with the Gunners as the Hammers ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
Much of the attention surrounding the game was on the reception Rice would get from the West Ham fans who used to adore him.

It is fair to say it was mixed with applause drowning out jeers for Rice at the London Stadium when he was introduced as a second half substitute.
There was clearly still respect on both sides, though. And that was the case behind the scenes too, judging by what one of his old teammates has said.

Speaking after the game, Coufal revealed Rice went into the Hammers dressing room to see his old teammates in a classy move.
‘Rice deserved Arsenal move and is even better there’ says Hammers defender
But the defender also shared his rather strange opinion that Rice ‘deserved’ his move to Arsenal and is doing even better at the Emirates.
“He (Rice) went to our changing room to say ‘hello’ to us ask how we are so we had a little chat with him,” Coufal said on Sky Sports News last night.
“He’s doing an incredible job at Arsenal and we all wish him the best. He did an unbelievable job here, he lifted a trophy after 50 years for West Ham and he deserved this move to Arsenal.
“I can’t say anything against him because he’s an unbelievable player and he is even better at Arsenal.”
It’s great to hear Rice was so respectful to his old team on his return to the London Stadium.
Although Coufal’s comments about him ‘deserving’ the move and being ‘even better’ since joining the Gunners will irk some fans.
