UEFA set to make changes to Champions League as Jose Mourinho ‘interested’ in Liverpool free transfer
Barring a miraculous turnaround between now and the end of the season, Liverpool won’t be playing Champions League football in 2023/24.
It has been a season of struggle for the Reds on the pitch, with the occasional bright spot, and even Europe League qualification for next term will have to be fought tooth and nail for if the club aren’t to have their first season without European football since 2016/17.
Champions League football has been a hugely important source of income for the club since 2017/18, with the club having raked in more than £400m in prize money and associated revenues during that period. Last year alone, in reaching the final where they were beaten in Paris by Real Madrid, the club banked more than £100m.
Jose Mourinho ‘interested’ in Liverpool star on summer free transfer
AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a move for Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino in the summer transfer window.
Firmino is out of contract in the summer at Anfield and personally informed Jurgen Klopp of his decision not to extend his eight year spell on Merseyside.
After signing Andrea Belotti and Paulo Dybala last summer, Mourinho has proved he can attract big-name players to Rome. The former Chelsea boss is hoping Firmino is his next – according to reports.
