Totti admits he would like to play a derby with Milan: “They sought me out the most”
Roma legend Francesco Totti has admitted that he would like to play a Milan derby with AC Milan as they sought to sign him in the past.
Totti spent his entire career at Roma, winning Serie A once, two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana titles, netting 250 goals making him the second-highest scorer in the history of the club.
In an interview with The Guardian, which was published earlier in 2021, Totti provided some background on how he could have joined Milan. He was given an offer to join their academy in a €75K move when he was 12, just after the Rossoneri had won the Scudetto, but he decided not to accept.
Totti is part of the Lega Serie A delegation that are in Serie A as an ambassador, and he spoke to SportMediaset ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“All former players would like to play such an important match,” he began.
How do you win a derby?
“It’s always a particular match, in itself. It must be played with the utmost tranquillity, with determination and the will to win.”
Who would you like to play this game with? Milan or Inter?
“Mamma mia, what a question! Of the two, more with Milan because it’s the one that sought me out the most.”
