Tottenham urged to sign Premier League star who will take them to the next level

April 27, 2024

Former Tottenham scout has urged the club to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the upcoming transfer window.

Spurs have their sights set on the upcoming transfer window, with several targets lined up. One of their primary objectives, as repeatedly reported, is to secure a forward this summer.

Several names have been linked, among which Ivan Toney is considered as one of the top targets.

Former Lilywhites scout Bryan King suggests that securing the signing of the English striker should be a priority for the club.

Bryan King urges Tottenham to pursue Toney

In an interview with Tottenham News, King emphasised Toney’s potential impact on Spurs, asserting that the English forward could be the catalyst for propelling the club to the next level.

He underscored Toney’s status as an England international and his proven track record in the Premier League as compelling reasons for Tottenham to pursue his signature.

He said:

“Toney, that is who Tottenham need to go and sign.”

“He is worth the extra money, and if Spurs want to move to the next level that is the player they need to convince to join them.”

“Spurs need to make that step and guarantee they will finish in the top four next season, and Toney is the player who will help them do that.”

“They can go through Europe and pick out centre-forwards if they like, but Toney is an England international, Premier League proven and he is the player that the club need to replace Harry Kane.”

Could Toney be the replacement for Harry Kane?

Toney has emerged as one of the top strikers in the division. Last season, he impressively scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games, placing him third in the league’s top scorers list, behind only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

With Toney’s contract at Brentford set to expire in less than eighteen months, speculation regarding his future has intensified.

The 28-year-old has previously expressed his desire to move to a bigger club, and with no news of a contract extension, it is expected that the striker will leave Brentford this summer.

As Tottenham continues its quest to identify a suitable successor to Harry Kane, Toney emerges as a compelling candidate to fill the void left by the talismanic forward.
