Tottenham target told he risks ‘damaging reputation’ if he replaces Igor Tudor

March 24, 2026

Adi Hutter may be desperate for a return to work, but is he desperate enough to take over Tottenham Hotspur?

Igor Tudor is the incumbent man in the dugout for Tottenham, but a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday has ramped up discussion his time in charge may be over.

The defeat to Forest was the fifth Tudor had overseen from seven matches across all competitions and the fourth in Premier League action since he took charge from Thomas Frank, who was sacked in February.

Tottenham now sit just one place and one point outside of the relegation zone with seven league fixtures to go, meaning their Premier League future is far from guaranteed.

talkSPORT understands that Spurs are considering making a change in the dugout during the international break.

Hutt the ground running
It’s why Tottenham are understood to be sounding out potential replacements should they axe Tudor in a last-ditch attempt to save their season.

Hutter, who has been without a job since last October, is one of the options believed to be under consideration from Spurs to take over from Tudor.

The Austrian boasts an impressive managerial CV having enjoyed successful stints at Young Boys, Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco.

However, speaking on talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs, European football expert Andy Brassell fears Hutter could do long-lasting damage to his reputation if he decides to take on the Tottenham job should it be offered to him.

Brassell: Hutter risks reputational damage
“Well, he’s a good coach in the right environment and he’s had some good moments at Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco,” Brassell said.

“But, who really would change things at this point?

“I can’t see what particular element of him would recommend him to the situation at Spurs and why he’d want to damage his reputation doing this.

“I’m always very skeptical of this, either on one hand he knows the club or he has no experience of the Premier League. It’s just about the situation and the temperament to deal with that situation.
