Tottenham backed to replace Son Heung-min with 29-year-old English international

Tottenham tipped to replace Son Heung-min with Manchester City winger Jack Grealish
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their squad this summer. They will try to strengthen several areas of the pitch after qualifying for the Champions League next season.
There will be outgoings too, as Daniel Levy faces an uphill task of reshaping the squad after a disastrous 2024/25 Premier League season that saw Ange Postecoglou’s side finish just above the relegated clubs. Cristian Romero has been attracting concrete interest from Atletico Madrid, while the club are open to considering offers for Yves Bissouma.
There is also a big possibility that the Europa League final turns out to be the final outing in a Spurs shirt for Son Heung-min. The South Asian star could be heading to the exit door this summer, with Daniel Levy prepared to listen to significant offers for him. Saudi Pro League clubs have reignited their interest in the 32-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract at N17.
Daniel Levy is targeting a ‘marquee’ signing this summer after the club’s entry back into the Champions League after three years, with Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish being heavily linked with a move to Tottenham. The England international has fallen out-of-favour at Manchester City this season and remained an unused substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final in May.
The 29-year-old, who has two years left on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, is set to be left out of Man City’s Club World Cup squad, raising doubts over his future. The Cityzens are ready to consider any offers for Jack Grealish that come their way this summer—be it a permanent move or loan.
With Grealish’s future at City up in the air, Tottenham could look at him as an option to replace Son in the squad. This proposed transfer has bee mooted by Sky Sports reporter James Green, stating the City outcast as a “nice fit”.
“Just to throw a curveball in there, with a left-hand side player potentially departing (Son), there’s a left-hand side player we were talking about just a second ago, Jack Grealish. Maybe that’s a nice fit,” James Green said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Show.
Son has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia of late, with the forward’s time in North London seemingly drawing to a close. The South Korean international has been a crucial figure for Tottenham over many years, but his powers have been slowly waning and the time is right perhaps right to cash him in.

By selling Son, Spurs could either invest on a young, raw talent with potential or a high-profile player like Grealish. If it is Grealish, the Lilywhites will have to pay a big fee as City wouldn’t want to sell him for cheap. The English winger has had a couple of poor seasons at the Etihad Stadium, and following the acquisitions of Jeremy Doku, Savinho and Omar Marmoush in recent transfer windows, he has fallen down the pecking order.
