Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte sent off in touchline altercation
Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were involved in a touchline altercation and both received red cards at full time of Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.
The two barbed with each other throughout the game, with Reece James’ goal sending Tuchel running down the touchline past the Spurs bench.
However, the Blues could not hold onto their lead and slipped up in injury time as Harry Kane equalised with a header from a corner.
The full time whistle was eventually blown and Tuchel and Conte had to be separated after their handshake ended with the pair squaring off.
Referee Anthony Taylor brandished red cards to both Tuchel and Conte and the incident will likely be investigated by the Football Association to establish facts and hand out punishments.
The two managers will be suspended for Chelsea and Tottenham’s games against Leeds and Wolves next weekend respectively.
Kalidou Koulibaly had put the Blues ahead with a scorching volley, with the hosts in complete control for most of the afternoon.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg drew Tottenham level from distance before Chelsea again got their noses in front courtesy of Reece James, who finished tidily at the back post.
However, Harry Kane flicked in Ivan Perisic’s corner in the 95th minute to make it 2-2.
Chelsea were left feeling aggrieved with incidents in the build-up to both of Tottenham’s goals. Rodrigo Bentancur appeared to foul Kai Havertz before Hojbjerg struck, while Cristian Romero was seen pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair before Kane equalised.
