The struggle was real: Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané battled food poisoning before goal scoring effort in Werder Bremen tilt

February 11, 2025

Leroy Sané had to overcome some things.

Food poisoning is awful and can zap the life out of you, so it is not hard to imagine that Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané was feeling pretty awful heading into the Werder Bremen match after dealing with a bout of the ailment last week.

With Serge Gnabry sick, Sané — at a minimum — just had to dress as an insurance policy for the game. As it turns out, Sané came on as a sub and scored the team’s second gal in a 3-0 win.

Leroy Sané was struggling with food poisoning two days before the Werder Bremen game. As a result, he even had to go to hospital overnight. While Serge Gnabry, who was also suffering from a gastrointestinal problem, was not in the squad against Bremen, Sané came back in time and scored immediately after being subbed on.

At a time where there are many doubts about this winger group, Sané picked a pretty good moment to make an instant impact.
