The Arsenal vs Liverpool: A must win occasion and time to re-write the Anfield script
Every game feels like a cup final with the final run in towards the Premier League title.
We have nine games remaining, not many as monumental as the one coming on Sunday, as the Arsenal travel to Anfield in the bid for three points.
We simply have to come away with something, whether it be three points or one, we have to make a statement to eliminate our current run at Anfield.
If we’re going to look at Arsenal’s last win in the league at Anfield, we’re dating back to over a decade ago, when Abou Diaby pulled off a midfield masterclass.
Thing’s this season are different to the rest, it’s easy to say that with flippancy, but we have the numbers for insurance.
This Arsenal side is not afraid of playing away from home, before the Spurs away game we were mobbed with how we hadn’t won in the league at the Lane in years, we came away with an unquestionable 2-0 win and the biggest grins in north London.
Sure, Liverpool at Anfield are more impressive than Tottenham, but it’s a Liverpool side we’ve already claimed three points against this season, and a side that are – without disrespect – past their sell-by date.
I’m not expecting an easy game, considering how they turned Manchester United inside out for fun, but a win on Sunday would be monumental, and arguably take us closer than ever to believing that this could be our year to win the Premier League.
We have huge tests coming up, and no game is guaranteed points, but as a lifelong Arsenal fan, a win at Anfield would cement the belief that we can go all the way – no matter what remains ahead of us.
