Spurs play coy, telling suitors they are not for sale

September 29, 2025

Europa League champions, Tottenham Hotspur have for the third time been forced to deny that interest in a takeover is about to happen despite rampant speculation.

This time, interest comes from a US-based consortium fronted by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick (pictured). The Lewis family, who own Spurs through Enic, have insisted the club is not for sale.

Daniel Levy’s long reign as chairman ended recently, leading observers to believe that Spurs are a a club positioning themselves for a sale. With Vinai Venkatesham stepping in as chief executive and Peter Charrington taking on the role of nonexecutive chair, the club has taken on a different management look.

With eleven American individuals and consortia already in ownership in the Premier League, another American group would come closer to swaying the balance of power in Premier League decision towards the US. Premier League vote majority is 14 out of 20 clubs.

The Lewis family, however, remains steadfast…at the moment!

Vivienne and Charles Lewis, who are more prominent since their father Joe stepped back, have said they are open to fresh investment but not a full sale. They see Tottenham as a project still under construction, with huge commercial potential still to be tapped.

Earick, a former DJ with a colourful past in attempted sports takeovers, can make all the noise he wants on social media, but it is meaningless unless the Lewis family gets an offer too good to refuse. So far they haven’t seen it.

Recent valuations put Spurs at between £2.6 and £3.13 billion. The Earick offer is believed to be at the top of that range at £4.5 billion.
