Sevilla, Real Betis fail with summer approach for Arda Guler
Real Madrid midfield prospect Arda Guler has reportedly rejected approaches from two La Liga clubs, Sevilla and Real Betis.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Sevilla and Real Betis are interested in Arda Guler. The two La Liga clubs submitted enquiries to Real Madrid about the possibility of sealing a deal for the 19-year-old midfield prospect in the summer transfer window. However, the teenage whizkid has rejected the approaches from both Andalusian outfits.
Arda Guler and his Real Madrid journey so far
Arda Guler has had to bide his time before growing in stature at Real Madrid. The Turkish wonderkid has endured fitness nightmares since arriving from Fenerbahce in a deal worth €20 million last summer. Carlo Ancelotti then chose to bide his time before throwing the youngster into the deep end.
However, the 19-year-old has produced impressive performances since breaking into the first-team squad, scoring six times in only 440 minutes of game time across 12 appearances in all competitions. Meanwhile, Guler’s progress in his few minutes on the pitch for Real Madrid has not gone unnoticed, compelling clubs to consider a summer loan move.
Some have also mulled over permanent moves, with Real Madrid recently turning down a bid from Arsenal. However, most reports have mooted a loan move across La Liga, with Andalusian clubs Sevilla and Real Betis submitting enquiries to Los Blancos for the teenage whizkid.
Move across La Liga on the cards?
Sevilla’s interest in Arda Guler is understandable. The Andalusian giants have endured a dreadful 2023/24 campaign and will finish outside the top half of the table. So, they will delve into the market for top-class players to raise the bar and guide them back to Europe. The Real Madrid wonderkid has thus emerged as a viable target for Los Nervionenses.
As for Real Betis, they are scouring the market for a young midfielder heading into the summer transfer window, as they aim to return to the UEFA Champions League next season. Guler is thus an option worth considering for Los Verdiblancos. However, the 19-year-old has rebuffed the two La Liga clubs’ approaches.
Guler wants to stay and fight for his place in the starting lineup next season. So, he will unlikely entertain any offers in the summer transfer window. In addition, Toni Kroos’s impending departure will create more opportunities for him in the starting lineup.
