Sergio Busquets set to reunite with Leo Messi at Inter Miami, will sign until 2025
Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets confirmed his intentions to leave the club last month, with his contract with the Catalans expiring on June 30.
There had been a lot of intrigue surrounding his future and his next destination following his decision to part ways with his boyhood club. A move to Saudi Arabia had been touted heavily, with the clubs from the Middle East nation ready to throw huge amounts of cash at the deal.
However, according to a fresh report from journalist Toni Juanmarti, Busquets is very close to completing a transfer to MLS outfit Inter Miami, where he will be reuniting with his former Barcelona teammate and close friend, Lionel Messi.
The Argentine snubbed an opportunity to return to Barça to move to the MLS club following his departure from PSG. And now it appears that he will be joined by his former teammate Busquets in Florida.
The report states that the 34-year-old midfielder will soon say yes to a move to Inter Miami, where he will take up a franchise player status.
It is further claimed that Busquets will sign a two-year contract until 2025 with the MLS outfit. The key to negotiations moving forward swiftly was an improved contract offer from the club that arrived on Sunday evening.
Busquets might not be the only departing Barcelona star who could reunite with Messi at Inter Miami. Reports suggest that Jordi Alba is also getting closer to a move to the Florida-based club, meaning three Barça legends could end up playing together again, but in the USA.
