Schalke agree deal to sign Robin Gosens

Robin Gosens is on the verge of completing a return to the Bundesliga, with Schalke 04 having reached an agreement to sign him from Fiorentina.

FC Schalke 04 have reached an agreement in principle to sign Robin Gosens from Fiorentina, according to reports from Sky Germany and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 32-year-old German left-back is set to join the Royal Blues on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the purchase clause is worth €2.5 million, plus additional performance-related bonuses.

A lifelong Schalke supporter, Gosens is reportedly willing to accept a significant pay cut to facilitate the move.

The experienced defender has previously played for a number of different clubs, including Atalanta, Inter Milan and 1. FC Union Berlin.

Last season, Gosens made 36 appearances for Fiorentina across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
