Roma Strike Verbal Agreement with Juventus Winger
Serie A giants Roma have leapfrogged Leicester City in a fiercely contested race to sign Juventus prodigy Matias Soule. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Daniele De Rossi’s men have agreed on personal terms with the Argentine gem and are ready to open talks with the Bianconeri.
Shortly after deciding to focus on three targets to shore up their roster, Roma made a crucial breakthrough in the Soule deal. With the player’s consent in the bag, the Giallorossi are reportedly willing to table a €25 million bid for the 21-year-old, who impressed at Frosinone last season.
Though Leicester have already submitted a similar offer, Roma are confident of striking a deal, relying on the youngster’s desire to join forces with De Rossi’s side. However, it’s worth noting that both proposals have fallen short of Juventus’ excessive €30-40m asking price for their talented forward.
Despite deeming Soule surplus to requirements, the record-time Italian champions hope to sell him for a premium price. Roma are genuinely interested in bringing the left-footed winger to the Stadio Olimpico, but they’re unwilling to break the bank to get a deal over the line.
Their opening proposal stands at €25m, including add-ons. And by the looks of things, they will not increase it. Roma must address other shortcomings in the coming weeks and cannot afford to drain out their budget on a single player.
Roma are also working on getting Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla, knowing anything less than €20m would likely be insufficient to receive the Spaniards’ go-ahead.
