Rennes join Leicester in list of suitors for Lilian Brassier

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Stade Rennais are joining the long list of suitors for Olympique de Marseille’s Lilian Brassier (25).

The out-of-favour centre-back has struggled since he moved from Stade Brestois ahead of the 2024/25 season. Reports have emerged that Marseille are concerned that Brassier is unable to cope with the pressure of playing for the club and they are open to selling him in January.

Rennes are looking for experienced defensive reinforcements, especially after a poor performance against OGC Nice revealed their soft underbelly as the club conceded three goals. Brassier is thought to fit that profile and benefits from the fact that he developed in Les Rouge et Noirs’ academy.

Rennes are far from the only club interested in Brassier. There have been reports that Premier League strugglers Leicester City are considering the defender and have made contact with his entourage, as have VfL Wolfsburg, Villarreal, and Nice.
