Reijnders: ‘Milan must believe in Scudetto and Europa League’

Tijjani Reijnders celebrates his first home goal for Milan and insists after a 3-0 win over Monza that they can target both the Scudetto and Europa League. ‘We’re not even halfway through the season.’
It was a comfortable victory at San Siro, building confidence just days after the 2-1 Champions League win away to Newcastle United.
Reijnders slalomed between defenders to open the scoring within three minutes, then 18-year-old debutant Jan-Carlo Simic came sliding in to meet the Rafael Leao pull-back.
“I felt a lot of happiness. It’s an honour to play here of course and to get the first goal at San Siro is very nice,” Reijnders told Sky Sport Italia.
Noah Okafor finished off a well-worked team move before limping off with yet another muscular problem, Milan’s second of the game after losing Tommaso Pobega in the first half.
“We had a difficult time against Atalanta and today was the game to get back, keep going and I am glad we managed it.”
Milan consolidated third place with this result and Reijnders insists the title is not beyond their reach.
“Of course, we always have to believe. We are not even halfway through the season, so we have to keep going and today was a good start.”
The Diavolo dropped out of the Champions League and into the Europa League knockout play-offs, so become one of the candidates to lift the trophy.
“Yes, we should all believe that, the supporters and the team. We have a lot of quality in the squad.”
