Real Madrid will have to pay €60m if they want to beat Liverpool to sign Brazilian starlet
Sources from Mundo Deportivo say Real Madrid will have to pay 60 million euros if they want to sign Joao Gomes from Flamengo. Real Madrid are still interested in signing Gomez from Flamengo, despite having brought in Chuameni to replace Casemiro this summer. Real Madrid aren’t the only team looking to sign the Brazilian starlet, though, and will reportedly face competition from Liverpool.
The 21-year-old grew up in Flamengo’s academy and is now a regular in the first team, with Gomez playing more than 100 games to date. Gomez’s outstanding performance in the No. 6 position has successfully attracted the interest of many top clubs in Europe. However, signing him would be costly for suitors including Real Madrid.
Mundo Deportivo said that Gomez’s contract with Flamengo will expire in the summer of 2025, and the contract includes a 60 million euro release clause. The report claims that Flamengo has no intention of negotiating a transfer fee for the rising midfielder, meaning either Real Madrid or Liverpool would have to pay €60m to sign Gomez.
The report also stated that Real Madrid are willing to make an offer of up to 40 million euros for the young midfielder. However, Flamengo is unlikely to accept an offer of less than 60 million euros. Before that, Real Madrid spent big to sign Vinicius and Rodrigo from Brazil, and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to pay the required amount in order to beat Liverpool to bring Gomez to the Bernabeu.
