Real Madrid outline four priority positions for squad reinforcements next summer

December 28, 2024

Real Madrid’s sporting management is already laying out its plans for the upcoming summer transfer window, focusing on strengthening key areas of their squad.

While there were speculations that the club might make signings during the winter transfer window, the club’s message is clear: they will not be making any short-term signings.

Instead, Real Madrid are looking ahead to next summer, with a clear strategy in place for key positions that need reinforcement, reports Defensa Central.

Full-back positions
One of the top priorities for the club is to strengthen both full-back positions. The club has identified two of the best in the world: Alphonso Davies and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Both players are set to enter the final stages of their contracts, meaning they will be able to negotiate with other clubs from January. Real Madrid intend to take advantage of this situation and make moves to secure both players for the summer.

Davies would be a solid addition to the left-back position, while Alexander-Arnold, with his experience and crossing abilities, would provide much-needed depth on the right.

Another significant target for the club is the acquisition of a new central defender.

Real Madrid are currently evaluating several options in the market, with the final decision likely to depend on detailed technical assessments and the opportunities that arise in the months leading up to next summer.

Strengthening the central defence is a priority for the club, especially given the vulnerability that has plagued the team’s back line this season. This new addition would be crucial in ensuring a more solid and reliable defence going forward.
