Real Madrid in discussions with La Liga club over the sale of talented youngster

July 9, 2023

After enjoying a dream campaign with Real Madrid Castilla, Sergio Arribas is likely to be on his way out of the club this summer.

The 21-year-old was one of the main protagonists of Raul Gonzalez’s side, helping them to the cusp of promotion to La Liga 2, only for the team to fall at the final hurdle against Eldense.

A talented young footballer, Arribas is held in very high regard within the club. However, given the lack of a pathway into the first team, the young attacking midfielder is expected to be on his way out.

Reports have suggested that Real Madrid have themselves advised Arribas that it would be best if he left to further his development. His exit would either be on loan or a permanent transfer with a buyback option.

And, there is no shortage of interest in the Spanish ace either, with Borussia Dortmund, Deportivo Alaves and Girona among the clubs keen.

Now, Jose Felix Diaz of MARCA is reporting that UD Almeria are also interested in Arribas and Real Madrid are currently in talks with the La Liga club over the 21-year-old’s exit.

A move to a club like Almeria could prove to be beneficial for Arribas as he would be a regular starter and would play week in, week out in La Liga, which will hold him in good stead as far as a future return to Real Madrid would be concerned.

Arribas, who can play anywhere in the final third of the pitch, scored 20 goals and set up seven more for Castilla last season. He also featured four times for Carlo Ancelotti’s first team and netted a goal in the process.

A loan move away would be ideal for the 21-year-old so that his development does not stall. A return to Real Madrid a year or two down the line could very well be on the cards if things go his way.
