Real Madrid identify €70 million player as top target

October 9, 2023

The left-back position at Real Madrid remains undecided. Eduardo Camavinga played there against Napoli despite the fact that both Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia were available on the day. The 20-year-old Frenchman is a midfielder though and not a long-term solution in defence by any stretch of the imagination.

Amidst all this, Real Madrid are believed to have shown an interest in signing Canadian international Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich. He is considered one of the best young left-backs in the world.

Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich runs until the summer of 2025. So, there will only be a year left on his deal at the end of this season and the Bundesliga champions might have to make a decision if he has not agreed an extension by then.

As reported by AS, Davies is Real Madrid’s major target for next summer. The club are keeping a close watch on him. His agent, Nedal Huose, said recently in an interview with 365Scores:

“There is interest, as there is interest from many teams. We’ll see what happens in the coming months. I am sure that Madrid will be one of the clubs that would like to sign Davies. He played with Alaba for three years, they are friends, they talk to each other all the time in private. Alphonso doesn’t share all the information with me, but I’m sure David would like to play with him again. Maybe he mentioned it… they are friends.”

Real Madrid identify €70 million player as top target
Real Madrid should definitely try to take the opportunity and bring the €70 million-rated Canadian left-back to Santiago Bernabeu. Bayern Munich are expected to want a significant transfer fee for Davies.

Real Madrid are also expected to look to part ways with Mendy soon, as his contract also runs out in the summer of 2025. The club should not be expecting a significant figure for the Frenchman as he has struggled for both form and fitness lately.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid do indeed end up making a move for Davies. A lot will depend on the player and what he wants to do because there is not expected to be any lack of interest in his signature if the Bayern Munich left-back did become available for transfer next summer.
