Real Madrid handed massive Thomas Tuchel blow

March 24, 2023

Real Madrid could be in search of a new manager very soon. Carlo Ancelotti’s long-term future at Santiago Bernabeu is hanging in the balance, after the club lost three straight games at the hands of Barcelona. The La Liga title race is pretty much over and going into the second leg of the Copa del Rey semis against Barcelona at Camp Nou with a 1-0 deficit, the Champions League might be Los Blancos’ best chance of lifting silverware this season.

If Real Madrid finish the campaign trophyless, then there is a pretty good chance that Ancelotti would be shown the exit door. In that scenario, who would be their next manager?

One of the top contenders to be Ancelotti’s potential replacement at Real Madrid was believed to be Thomas Tuchel. But now, it looks like the German manager is no longer available.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Tuchel is set to become the new Bayern Munich head coach. Contract has been agreed, and documents are being prepared.

Real Madrid handed Tuchel blow

Tuchel is one of the best tactical coaches in the world right now, if not the very best. As a result, someone like him could have been perfect for Real Madrid, during a period of time in the club’s history when they need to get the most out of the least.

Tuchel has shown his qualities at clubs like Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Chelsea already. And rumours had suggested that he was learning Spanish. But it looks like he is not going to wait around till the summer for a job, and is set to take charge of Bayern Munich this season itself.

Of course, Bayern Munich are one point behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga title race. On the other hand, in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, they will be taking on Manchester City.
