RB Leipzig pushing to sign Rayan Cherki as Dani Olmo’s replacement
According to Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig are pushing to sign Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Rayan Cherki.
It has previously been reported that Dani Olmo’s move from Leipzig to Barcelona is a done deal, with the Spanish midfielder just required to undergo his medical and sign his contract with the Catalan club.
This has left Die Roten Bullen in a position where they need to find a replacement for the 26-year-old playmaker, and as already covered by Get German Football News, they have identified Cherki as their ideal successor.
Borussia Dortmund had previously looked to complete a deal for the Frenchman earlier on in the transfer window, but ultimately a deal with Lyon broke down.
This has allowed Leipzig to make the 20-year-old theirs, and it is believed they will meet Lyon’s asking price of €15 million with €2 million in future add-ons.
Personal terms between Cherki and Die Roten Bullen are yet to be agreed upon; however, talks are ongoing.
It is understood that Leipzig are also monitoring Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven and Francisco Conceição from Porto, should a deal for the midfielder fall through.
