RB Leipzig continue Carvalho pursuit after initial bid rejected

June 7, 2023

According to Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig have had an offer of €12 million for the services of Fabio Carvalho turned down by Liverpool, but they’re not giving up. A new, improved offer is being prepared.

Having joined Liverpool from Fulham last summer, Carvalho has struggled to adapt to the demands of manager Jurgen Klopp, making just three appearances in all competitions in 2022/23. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, also capable of attacking from the left flank, has reportedly been told he isn’t Klopp’s immediate plans for next season, with Alexis Mac Allister apparently close to joining from Brighton and Hove Albion and other midfield targets being lined up.

However, the Merseysiders don’t want to lose Carvalho on a permanent deal. A loan could be an option, as could some kind of a buyback clause if he was to leave Anfield. The negotiations between the two clubs are set to resume in the coming days.
