Rashford to wait for clearer Man United owner situation before recommitting

March 24, 2023

Manchester United have been working on getting Marcus Rashford to sign a new contract as soon as possible for a while now, but at the moment, the negotiations between the club and the player are reportedly stalling. According to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old forward is more than happy to wait for the ongoing saga regarding the ownership of the club to be resolved, before recommitting his future.

The club obviously won’t be too happy with that, given that Rashford’s current deal enters its final 12 months this summer and that his electric form this season continues to attract plenty of interest. The England international has scored 27 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions for United this term.

Apparently, United plan to introduce a wage cap which would ensure no player earns more than £300,000 per week, and they’ve offered Rashford the top figure in that bracket, but he is waiting to see if the prospective new owners put a different proposal on the table.

Rashford was linked in the past to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
