PSG’s €40M talent comments on future amid Barcelona, Manchester City links
Paris Saint-Germain loanee Xavi Simons is on the radar of top European clubs after hitting the ground running with RB Leipzig. The 20-year-old returned to the French giants after one season with PSV Eindhoven, where he began flashing his potential.
Despite coming to a new league and country, Simons continues to show he’ll soon be one of the best players in his position. As a result, clubs such as FC Barcelona and Manchester City are keen on him.
The winger, who can also play in the midfield, provided an answer on his future after the Netherlands lost 2-1 to France on Friday night at Johan Cruyff Arena.
“I’m happy in Leipzig; I’m not thinking about anything else,” Simons told Europe 1 postgame (h/t Paris Fans). “I have a very exciting season to play, and I will also see with my team.”
PSG has the player, but he will likely want a clear picture of where he’ll fit in the project and starting 11. If Simons is unconvinced about being a regular starter under manager Luis Enrique, he will likely push for a move elsewhere.
Simons was at Barcelona during his youth academy days, so they, like any other club, will be salivating if the young player decides he wants out of Paris.
How much could Simons cost? Transfermarkt puts the player’s value at €40 million.
