PSG TO REST MARQUINHOS AGAINST RENNES
PSG have confirmed that they are set to rest Marquinhos (29) for their upcoming Ligue 1 match against an in-form Rennes team on Sunday.
The Brazilian international suffered a calf injury in Les Parisiens’ last match against Nantes, where Luis Enrique’s men secured a 2-0 victory on the road in Ligue 1. Marquinhos is still completing work in the gym but PSG have made the decision to rest him for their next match.
With the PSG captain to be rested against Les Rouges et Noirs, Kylian Mbappé (25) should take the captain’s armband in Marquinhos’ absence. Lucas Beraldo is also set to be handed an opportunity to start, according to Le Parisien. This he 29-year-old has likely been rested as a precaution with the second-leg of PSG’s Champions League tie against Real Sociedad on the horizon.
Škriniar and Kimpembe still undergoing rehabilitation
PSG’s official statement on the fitness of Marquinhos also offered an update on the rehabilitation of Milan Škriniar and Presnel Kimpembe with the Ligue 1 champions’ options in central defence dwindling. No timeframe was offered but the club has confirmed both are successfully undergoing their rehabilitation programs.
