PSG to present allegations to Disciplinary Committee over Neymar’s dismissal

December 31, 2022

Galtier’s team will face second-placed Lens on Sunday

Neymar Jr was sent off in PSG’s last Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg, the first since the World Cup break.

The Brazilian player was shown a second yellow card after dropping inside the area without contact, which the referee interpreted as a dive.

Now, the Parisian club wants to reduce the suspensions by presenting allegations to the Disciplinary Committee of the LFP to try to have the first yellow card withdrawn, which was shown after brushing the face of an opponent with his hand.

PSG consider the first card disproportionate with all the fouls that the Brazilian suffered, and will therefore try to get the booking rescinded.

However, there is not much optimism in the team’s entourage.

“I can understand the second yellow that Clement Turpin gave him, but the first one is exaggerated compared to all the fouls he suffered,” said Galtier after the match.

PSG will play again next Sunday, January 1, against Lens. The match is expected to be a tense one, as their opponents are second in the table, and a win would bring them within four points of PSG.
