PSG Pursue Benfica Defender Who Crystal Palace Had a Bid Rejected For
Milan Skriniar could be on the way out before Friday’s summer transfer window closes. As a result, Paris Saint-Germain might be plotting a last-minute swoop of a center-back to ensure the position doesn’t weaken.
Skriniar hasn’t been featured yet this season, and it’s clear from Luis Enrique’s decisions that the veteran defender isn’t included in his plans. It would be in the best interest of both sides to part ways while they still can.
Al Nassr appear to have the edge in the race for Skriniar, and if the Slovakian does move on in these final days, the Parisians already have a target in mind to replace the veteran defender.
According to L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi, PSG has reached out to Benfica about signing their 22-year-old center-back, Tomás Araújo, as a potential replacement for Skriniar if he departs.
Earlier this summer, Benfica turned down a €20 million offer from Crystal Palace for Araújo. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also noted that Araújo is PSG’s primary target for the central defense should Skriniar leave. However, Araújo remains a crucial player for Benfica.
