PSG Denies Intent to Pay €200M for Barcelona Wonderkid, Reporter Says
Over the last few days, Paris Saint-Germain are one of the teams linked to FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. Earlier this month, there was a report that the Parisians have offered €200 million for the 16-year-old.
Yamal and Pau Cubarsí are Barcelona’s two bright young stars. Nonetheless, the two players’ contracts expire in 2026, and that’s when the capital club could potentially swoop in, just like they did with Xavi Simons.
However, El Chiringuito’s Juanfe Sanz reports that PSG has made no offer to the Catalan side for their youth player.
“They tell me, ‘We’re not that crazy. We would never offer €200 million to a club in semi-bankruptcy,’” Sanz said. Of course, that’s the point—not to a club in semi-bankruptcy or any club, for that matter. Everyone knows.”
While Yamal’s talent cannot be denied, paying €200 million is wild. Furthermore, CBS Sports journalist Jonathan Johnson stated that if Barcelona does sign both players to new contracts with enormous release clauses, these files should be discarded because of the high cost of landing them.
PSG will be pursuing players of Yamal’s file, who are young and have high upside, but overpaying for any player shouldn’t be the path the capital club takes.
