Premier League set to end their matchday ball partnership with Nike after 25 YEARS and agree ‘lucrative deal’ with Puma for 2025

July 15, 2023

The Premier League are set to switch matchday ball suppliers from Nike to Puma.

Nike have been the Premier League’s ball provider for 25 years but that is set to change when their contract expires in 2025.

According to the Athletic, Nike had the chance to extend but a deal couldn’t be struck.

Instead, the Premier League has now agreed a ‘lucrative deal’ with Puma, commencing at the start of the 2025-2026 season.

Puma recently began manufacturing balls for Serie A and have a long-running partnership with La Liga as well.

Neither the Premier League, Puma or Nike have released a statement on the matter at the time of writing.

Nike and the Premier League’s partnership began in 2000 with the Nike Geo Merlin ball.

Both parties signed a six-year contract extension in November 2018, running until 2025.

At the time, Richard Scudamore, former Executive Chairman of the Premier League said: ‘Nike is an excellent partner for the Premier League and, through its track-record of innovation, has done a great job providing high quality match-balls for the competition for nearly 20 years.

‘We are very pleased our partnership has extended until the end of the 2024/25 season.

‘Our work together extends beyond the match-ball and includes Nike’s excellent support for the Premier League Primary Stars Kit and Equipment Scheme that benefits schools across England and Wales.’
