Napoli tell Manchester United their stance on Victor Osimhen transfer

February 9, 2023

The striker is on Erik ten Hag’s list of potential summer targets but the Italian leaders are staying firm on keeping their main man.

Napoli have told Manchester United that Victor Osimhen is not for sale. Serie A’s top goalscorer is on Erik ten Hag’s shortlist of potential striker targets this summer alongside Harry Kane.

Osimhen scored a brace in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Spezia on Sunday to take his league tally to 16 goals in 17 games as his side lead the table by 13 points. His form has naturally attracted interest from clubs around Europe.

However, Napoli are determined not to let him leave over the summer. Club president Aurelio de Laurentiis says the club have no need to sell their talisman, whose contract runs until 2025.

Talking to BILD, as per the Daily Mail, he stated: “I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale. Our players are in demand, but I don’t have to sell anyone. We don’t have any debts.”

Ten Hag, meanwhile, is also an admirer of Ajax star Mohamed Kudus and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos, who scored a hat-trick against Switzerland in the last-16 of the World Cup for Portugal.

However, United could make a plunge for Kane, who became Tottenham’s all-time scorer when he netted his 267th goal for the club in their 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday. The goal also marked him reaching 200 goals in the Premier League.

But the 29-year-old England captain is yet to win a trophy in his career and could seek to leave Spurs in the summer to add one to his CV. Speaking last month, Kane admitted “not much” had happened in regards to a new deal at Tottenham with the attacker in the final 18 months of his current deal.
