Napoli president insists he will not sell in-demand Victor Osimhen this summer
Manchester United have been handed a blow in the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after comments from club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Osimhen has had a brilliant season for the Serie A outfit after lifting the league title this week. All it took was a 1-1 draw against Udinese, with the Nigerian forward scoring the all important equalising goal.
Napoli managed to end a three-decade wait to lift the Scudetto and they will be trying to keep hold of their best players this summer.
Club president De Laurentiis has stressed that Napoli will not sell Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window.
After winning the title midweek, Osimhen was immediately asked about his future and he was just as quick to play down speculation because he wanted to enjoy the title celebrations.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Osimhen in recent months as Erik ten Hag steps up his search for a new striker.
The Napoli chief is seen as one of the toughest negotiators in football (the Daniel Levy of Italian football), so it would take a hefty transfer fee to change his mind.
United will just need to turn their attention to other strikers.
Maybe Tottenham’s Harry Kane?
