Munich mayor takes seat at Bayern’s top table

February 24, 2026

Munich mayor Dieter Reiter has long been known as a committed Bayern supporter. Now, he is officially stepping into an even more influential role at the club.

According to a report from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, it is a done deal. Reiter is set to become a member of FC Bayern’s nine-man supervisory board, the powerful body where key decisions on transfers, long-term strategy, and even coaching appointments are made. His appointment sees him replace former Bavarian minister-president Edmund Stoiber.

For Bayern, the supervisory board is not just symbolic. It is where the biggest calls are discussed and approved. By joining figures such as Herbert Hainer, Uli Hoeneß, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Reiter becomes part of the inner circle that shapes the club’s direction at the highest level.

The move also further strengthens the connection between the city of Munich and its most successful football institution. Reiter has never hidden his support for Bayern, and now that relationship becomes official in a new capacity.

Although his political office will remain separate from club operations, his presence on the board adds another experienced and high-profile voice to Bayern’s leadership structure.
