MONZA OPEN TALKS WITH EX MAN UTD STAR CAVANI
According to Sky Sport Italia, Monza director Adriano Galliani has opened talks with the intermediaries of ex-Napoli and Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani.
Cavani is available as a free agent as his contract at Old Trafford expired on June 30. He had already been linked with a move to Salernitana.
The Granata’s president Danilo Iervolino has repeatedly claimed that the Uruguay international would be a ‘dream signing’ for them.
However, according to Sky Sport Italia, Monza have emerged as a potential next destination for the experienced striker. In fact, Galliani has opened talks with Cavani’s intermediaries.
The newly-promoted side are showing ambition in the summer transfer window having already signed Stefano Sensi, Andrea Ranocchia, Alessio Cragno, Matteo Pessina, Andrea Carboni and Samuele Birindelli.
Monza want to sign a quality centre-forward for their first-ever Serie A campaign and are considering a move for Cavani.
The 35-year-old scored 112 goals in 212 Serie A games during his seven-year spell in Italy with Palermo and Napoli.
