Mitrovic scores 100th goal for Cottagers in narrow win
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his 100th goal for Fulham as they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 at Craven Cottage.
The Serb was on hand to smash home at the back post from Neeskens Kebano’s low cross, bagging his fifth goal in as many games and fourth in front of the home fans.
That goal came just three minutes after the half-time interval and Fulham didn’t have to wait long to double their advantage. Albion captain Lewis Dunk was the unlikely goalscorer for Fulham, as he diverted Andreas Pereira’s cross past Robert Sanchez in the Brighton goal.
But just as Marco Silva’s side though they may be cruising to their second win of the season, Brighton hit back from the penalty spot after Bobby Decordova-Reid hauled down Pervis Estupinan, a summer arrival from Villarreal.
Alexis Mac Allister stepped up, like he did against West Ham United, and he tucked the spot kick high into Bernd Leno’s goal to reduce the arrears.
Deniz Undav hit the post late on as Brighton pressed for an equaliser, but Fulham held on to climb into the Premier League’s top six, ending Albion’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season in the process.
