Middlesbrough dealt blow in pursuit of 25-year-old attacker

Middlesbrough have been credited with an interest in the attacker recently but may need to look elsewhere for targets now.

Middlesbrough target Jack Clarke is poised to stay at Ipswich Town in this transfer window, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.
Middlesbrough have been linked with a move for the winger this summer as they aim for promotion to the Premier League under the guidance of head coach Kim Hellberg. Boro will need to look elsewhere for reinforcements though between now and the deadline on Tuesday evening.

Clarke, 25, is under contract at Ipswich Town until June 2029 meaning he still has three years left to run down on his deal at Portman Road. He has made 87 appearances for the Tractor Boys in all competitions to date and he has chipped in with 20 goals and nine assists.

In this latest update regarding his situation in Suffolk, the East Anglian Daily Times claim Gary O’Neil’s side intend to retain his services until January at least amid reported attention from the Riverside Stadium. They also plan to keep hold of Kasey McAteer as well.

Middlesbrough are looking to claw themselves out of the second tier this season after losing in the play-off final to Hull City in late May at Wembley. They have three points on the board so far.
