Medical set as major Leeds United target chooses next club
Leeds United fans finally got to see their new signings in action in their first pre-season game of the summer. The Whites were held to a 0-0 draw against Manchester United.
Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Sean Longstaff and Gabriel Gudmundsson were among the names that featured. It was an exciting game as Jayden Bogle won plaudits, with many naming him Man of the Match.
The biggest surprise ahead of the game was Daniel Farke handing a start to Jack Harrison. The winger’s future at the club is still uncertain, but Farke would explain later why that decision was made. After the game, the Leeds boss dropped a bombshell as he revealed that Patrick Bamford is not part of his plans for next season.
Former Southampton star Kyle Walker-Peters is set to undergo a medical with West Ham ahead of a move, according to Fabrizio Romano. The fullback pulled out of a medical with Besiktas a few days ago, which completely ended the transfer.
Walker-Peters was linked with a move to Elland Road, but the club failed to make any progress on a potential deal. The 28-year old could be unveiled as a new West Ham player by next week.
Leeds United handed huge praise by Manchester United boss
It was a hard fought 0-0 draw between both sides. Daniel Farke was pleased that the team were able to play so well despite not many games together. Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim had some praise for this Leeds team:
“Leeds United pressed us well and kept the ball probably better than we expected,” Amorim said.
“They will be a very competitive team in the Premier League.”
Bogle and Gudmundsson star
The Man of the Match on Saturday was Jayden Bogle. The right back was all over the pitch during the game. He combined well and was always a threat on the overlap. Bogle had a great passage of play as he played a one-two with Joel Piroe which brought him one-on-one with Manchester United keeper Tom Heaton. Unfortunately the stopper closed his angles quickly to prevent a goal.
Gabriel Gudmundsson came on in the second half. He looked lively off the bench, and made some dangerous overlapping runs. Fans will love how good he is at set-pieces; his corners were a threat to the opponent team. Will be very keen to see how Leeds use that next season.
